Sardinia's Little Green Train: Macomer - Bosa

Esedra Escursioni has been operating since 1998 in the field of services for cultural and environmental tourism, accompanying visitors on naturalistic, historical and archaeological itineraries in the territories of the Marghine, Planargia and throughout Sardinia. It is made up of a highly professional team of Tourist Guides and Environmental Excursion Guides (regularly enrolled in the Regional Register of Tourist Professions), including various professional figures in the fields of archaeology, educational and didactic services, external promotion and event creation, and cultural heritage.

As an affiliated agency Trenino Verde Point, it manages the itineraries of Trenino Verde trips for the Macomer - Bosa narrow-gauge tourist route with additional services such as the Bauchiero vintage carriage. It also manages the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Ancient Arts of Macomer.

MACOMER-BOSA

This is a very scenic line that runs from the more than 500 metres of the Campeda plateau to the Bosa Marina station at the mouth of the river Temo. Along the way you can admire the blue of the sea moving, now to the right then to the left, as the train advances in its slow descent almost to the shore.

Trips often take place using historic carriages, such as the Bauchiero carriage dated 1913: it is the wood and brass jewel of the Trenino Verde family. The same model of carriage in which the writer D.H. Lawrence travelled in 1921 and later described his fascinating experience in the book 'Sea and Sardinia' ().

Itinerary, Macomer - Bosa Marina

9:30 a.m. departure, with a tourist guide on board, in the vintage Bauchiero carriage (class of 1913) from Macomer station, capital of the Marghine. Once it has left the station, the train begins its journey into territories marked by ancient pastoral traditions.

The first stop is in Sindia with a guided tour of the ruins of the ancient Cistercian abbey of Santa Maria di Corte, dating back to 1147. Immediately after the visit to the abbey, a tasting of fragrant local sweets follows, after which the train's journey continues to the Tresnuraghes station for another tasting of typical products, such as bread, cheese, ricotta sausage, etc..

At the end of the tasting, the train continues its journey through a succession of landscapes dominated by the well-known Malvasia vineyards, slowly climbing the exciting curves of the hills surrounding Bosa, the capital of the Planargia.

After skirting the sandy shore and the Gulf of Bosa, we arrive at the terminus, the Bosa Marina station (Viale Colombo) for an aperitif with the typical Malvasia di Bosa wine.

In the afternoon, there will be an excursion by boat on the river Temo, the only navigable river in Sardinia.
