Calamosca Beach

Calamosca beach rises in a beautiful bay protected by two massive promontories: to the east by Capo Sant'Elia, on which stands an ancient Spanish tower later converted into a lighthouse, and to the west by the attractive Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle), so called because of its peculiar shape attributed to the legend of Lucifer's fall, once he was cast out of Paradise. This beach is easy to find, as it is only 4 km from the centre of Cagliari and close to the long, sandy Poetto coastline.

You will be enchanted by its clear sea of emerald green and azure colours. The sandy shore is made up of sand with smooth pebbles and the shallow seabed sloping down gradually, so it is suitable for children and especially loved by those who enjoy underwater fishing and diving.

Calamosca beach, one of the largest city beaches in Europe, has a large car park, a kiosk-bar and beach equipment hire. Nearby are several open-air nightclubs, perfect for summer nightlife, as well as several restaurants, specialising in seafood dishes.

How to get there:

After driving along Viale Diaz, turn right before Poetto and head towards the S. Bartolomeo district and after passing Piazza San Bartolomeo and a long row of military buildings, go straight along Viale Calamosca until you find the beach.
