✔️ The Cavalcata Sarda di Sassari is one of the most important folkloristic events in Sardinia, now in its 74th edition. It will take place on Sunday 18 May 2025, preceded by a week of cultural and gastronomic events.

✅ A Journey into Tradition
The Cavalcata Sarda is a secular celebration that has its roots in 1899, when it was organised in honour of the visit of King Umberto I and Queen Margherita of Savoy. Today, it is a tribute to Sardinian culture and identity, with over 2,000 participants in traditional dress from all over the island.
From 12 to 20 May:
- Photo exhibition ‘Timeless Beauty’ at the Ducal Palace, with shots of the first editions of the Cavalcade.
- ‘Eat&buffas - Sardinia Food Parade’ in Piazza Castello, food and wine event with typical products and craft beers.
- Performance ‘Sos Mannos de su Passadu: su cantu a chiterra’ at the Town Hall.
- Musical evening ‘Waiting for the Sardinian Cavalcade’ in Piazza Santa Caterina, with local artists.
- Review of traditional songs and dances in the Piazza d'Italia, with the participation of numerous folk groups.
Mattina:
- At 9 a.m., departure of the procession from via Asproni, crossing via Roma, Piazza d'Italia, via Cagliari, viale Italia and via Mancini.
- Participation of 60 folk groups, 22 groups of riders, over 220 horses and 7 groups of traditional masks such as the Mamuthones of Mamoiada and the Boes e Merdules of Ottana.
- Conclusion with the traditional ‘ballu tundu’ in Piazza d'Italia, symbol of peace and unity.
- A pariglie show at the Pinna Hippodrome, with acrobatic performances by horsemen from different Sardinian localities.
- At 18:00, Review of traditional songs and dances in the Piazza d'Italia, with the participation of 38 folk groups.
