Valledoria is located North of Castelsardo, in the territory of Anglona, facing the Gulf of Asinara. Born in 1961 from the union of some fractions, rises on the site of the ancient Roman city of Codes (hence the name Codaruina). The name derives from the noble family of Liguria that in the thirteenth century built the castle which still dominates the valley of the river Coghinas. It includes the villages of Codaruina, La Muddizza, La Ciaccia, San Pietro, Baia Verde and Maragnani.

THINGS TO SEE

Twenty miles of beautiful beaches from Castelsardo to Isola Rossa, with beautiful landscapes and unusual characteristics thanks to the river Coghinas, the third largest river of Sardinia with its 116 km and the second widest basin.

The name comes from the term logudorese "cucine", for the presence of hot springs, in Santa Maria Coghinas, that flow at a temperature of 76 °C (168,8 °F). There is a hotel with spa facilities, modernly equipped.

The entire course of the river can be descended, starting from the spa Casteldoria and ending at the mouth in the beautiful coastline of the beach of St. Peter, with canoe or kayak, discovering unspoilt nature with an ideal habitat for many species of waterfowl. Ideal for Birdwatching lovers.

The good frequency of wind throughout the year makes it possible to regattas. Since 2007 there is a sailing center, which promotes environmentally friendly activities and environmental protection of the territory.

The coast offers a holiday of great charm and fun thanks to diving in the beautiful backdrops, starting from the beach of La Ciaccia where there is a diving school with several selections of dive, Full Day, Week End or Blue Week.

La Ciaccia has become a destination for surfers, famous for a sea often subject to the mistral. When it blows, all the athletes of the north coast go to surf in La Ciaccia and the beach of St. Peter, further thanks to the extensive flat water mirror of the mouth of Coghinas, it is possible to have fun also when sea conditions become extreme. For those who want to challenge themselves for the first time, there is a school that will learn this sport, also allowing to rent, pedal boats, canoes or windsurf.

Inland, Mount Limbara is a destination for hikers and free climbers, with an amazing view that comes to embrace even the Corsican coast and there is also a riding club where you can attend courses for a week with a teacher and hiking and walks on the beach on horseback.

Valledoria has preserved very ancient traditions of Holy Week and very rich is the program of the summer calendar.
