North East

The north-east of Sardinia is the 'star' of Sardinian tourism. Its territory coincides almost entirely with the historical region of Gallura and includes within it, two well-known destinations throughout the island: the famous Costa Smeralda and the Maddalena archipelago. Badesi, Santa Teresa Gallura, Olbia and Golfo Aranci are also part of this geographical area. With their ports and airport, they represent for most tourists the preferred gateway to the Island of the 'centenarians', Porto Rotondo, Baia Sardinia, Arzachena, Golfo Aranci, Tavolara Island... Travelling along the coast of north-eastern Sardinia, you will find beautiful beaches, washed by a crystal-clear, clean sea that is the envy of the Caribbean. The hinterland is no less impressive, unfortunately much less visited than the coast, but it offers stimulating cultural and historical attractions located in the woods and far from the destinations of mass tourism; among these are the Albucciu nuraghe, the Li Lolghi giants' tomb and the Li Muri necropolis.
